As the Archbishop of the Mother City of South Africa, of the first ecclesiastical territory to be established in Southern Africa (1818), I welcome you to this website.
  It is my hope that it will inform you and provide you with any information you may require regarding this segment of the Catholic Church.

May 2013 Diary

In this Year of Faith a booklet entitled "On Poetic Wings" by Fr Ralph de Hahn has been published in the archdiocese and is available in most parishes and Catholic schools. This book will serve as a useful tool in the drive for evangelization, and is recommended for all teachers, catechists and parents, young people and students. It is the Catholic faith expressed in simple poetic language. R50 a copy. Phone the Catholic Bookshop at 021 465 5904 to order your copy.

 

GATHERING OF ALL CATHOLIC HEALTHCARE WORKERS & NURSES

Bishop Declan Lang and Dr David Ryall, the chairperson and director respectively of the International Affairs and International Justice and Peace departments of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales were in Cape Town on  a short visit. They met with a cross-section of church-based organisations, sharing perspectives on South Africa and advocacy issues. Below are a selection of photos from the meeting.
