 | The Redemptorists celebrated 100 years of life
and ministry in South Africa at Holy Redeemer Church, Bergvliet on 15
April 2012. Mass was celebrated by Bishop Kevin Dowling of Rustenburg
Diocese, himself a Redemptorist, while former Redemptorist Superior
General, Archbishop Joseph Tobin, preached. Archbishop Stephen Brislin,
Archbishop Lawrence Henry (Emeritus of Cape Town), and Bishop Cawcutt
were guests of honour and concelebrated the Mass. Archbishop
Brislin thanked the Redemptorists for their valuable contribution
to the building up of the Church in Southern Africa, and in particular for
their work in the parishes of the Archdiocese of Cape Town. He also
paid tribute to former Archbishop of Cape Town, Stephen Naidoo CSsR,
for the public stand he took in fighting for social justice in South
Africa.
